My Industry Experience

Thank you for taking the time to view my website. I started working in the construction industry in 1996, specifically performing carpentry and joinery as an apprentice under Tom Kearney (Kearncroft Developments Ltd). After this exceptional four year foundation in the trade, and looking for a new challenge, I formed McDonagh Bros. Carpentry Services, which handled amongst many other project types:

    •    Extension to UCHG: (Five levels, two-year construction phase; John Sisk Builders)

    •    Dunnes Stores Terryland (John Sisk Builders)

    •    Ashford Castle (Lohan's Joinery)

    •    Merlin Park Hospital (Phased upgrade; Carey Developments)

 

The Formation of Passive Timber Frame Homes Ltd .

In 2010 I formed Passive timber frame homes to cater to the demand for more energy-efficient homes in Ireland. Low energy or passive homes are my primary focus now because I believe they're the best solution for the modern buyer. What's the source of demand for low energy or passive homes? Buyers want more comfortable homes, to save money and to reduce their impact on the environment. Building regulations like Part L have played a role as well.

 

My work style is hands-on, and I'm committed to excellence because that's what it takes to achieve 0.6 air changes per hour on an air tightness test of 50 Pascals. Passive Timber Frame Homes can deliver Nationwide Building Service in every county in the Republic of Ireland. Furthermore, my qualification in Project Management (IPMA) helps me uniquely handle the communication of different stakeholders in a Low Energy House.
